Food safety

Hospitality courses are delivered by our sister school National Technology Institute

This course gives candidates the basic knowledge and skills that are needed to work safely with food. It covers areas such as the importance of personal hygiene, how to prevent cross contamination in the workplace, and the importance of measuring and recording the temperature of food. The pack covers unit standards:

  • 167 Practice food safety methods in a food business
  • 20666 Demonstrate a basic knowledge of contamination hazards and control methods used in a food business

Credit value: 6 credits

You can do one or all of the above units as you wish but to gain the HSI Certificate of Achievement you must achieve competency in all the required units.

Many of the above units are credits towards full nationally recognised qualifications.
