NTec Certificate in Hospitality (Food & Beverage Service) Level 3
Hospitality courses are delivered by our sister school National Technology Institute
This qualification provides students with useful knowledge and skills in food and beverage service.
Duration
Six months (3 intakes per year).
Course Content:
The course is made up of New Zealand Qualifications Authority Unit Standards, delivering theoretical knowledge and developing hands-on skills. The qualification will be awarded to people who have demonstrated skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- Correct use of service techniques and equipment
- Customer interaction skills
- Promotion and up-selling
- Product knowledge
- Safe food handling practices and compliance with health and safety legislation.

Students who successfully complete the course will also achieve the following Certificates of Achievement issued by the Hospitality Standards Institute:
- Hospitality Operations
- Food Safety
- Customer Service
- Barista
The course is delivered by industry qualified teaching staff through lectures, tutorials, and practical assignments.
Pathways
The course provides students with pathways to various higher level qualifications at Level 4 or Level 5.
Entry Requirements
- 18 years of age or over (international students).
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills, and interest in hospitality work.
- International students require IELTS level 5.5 (Academic).
